Patina Co. ("we", "our", "us") operates bypatina.co. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. It applies to our website and to any email or telephone contact between you and us.
Who we are
Patina Co., 1470 West Street, Wilson, WY 83014, United States. We sell original wristwatches to customers in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described below.
What we collect
Information you give us when you order, create an account, join our email list or contact us: your name, email address, telephone number, delivery address, billing address, and the contents of any message you send.
Payment details. Card numbers are entered on a page operated by our payment provider and are not stored on our systems. We receive only the last four digits, the card type, and whether the payment succeeded.
Browsing information collected automatically when you use the site: your IP address, device type, operating system, browser, screen size, referring page, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, what you click, what you add to your basket, and whether you complete an order.
How your browsing information is used
This is the part people most often want spelled out, so here it is plainly. Your browsing information is used to:
- Keep the site working β remembering what is in your basket between pages and keeping you signed in.
- Understand how the site performs. We look at which pages are visited, where people stop, and which listings hold attention, so we can improve the layout and wording.
- Estimate your general location from your IP address, so we can show prices and delivery options that apply to you.
- Detect and prevent fraudulent orders.
- Measure advertising. If you arrived from an advertisement, we record that so we can tell which campaigns lead to orders. This is aggregated β we do not build a profile of you as an individual for advertising.
- Show you our products again on other platforms after you have visited us. You can stop this at any time using the cookie controls in your browser, or the advertising settings of the platform concerned.
We do not sell your browsing information. We do not use it to make automated decisions that have a legal effect on you.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website. We use three kinds:
- Essential β needed for the basket, checkout and sign-in to function. The site does not work without them.
- Analytics β tell us how the site is used, in aggregate.
- Advertising β let us measure campaigns and show our products on other platforms.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If you block essential cookies, checkout will not work.
Why we are allowed to use your information
- To perform our contract with you β taking payment, sending your order, handling returns.
- Our legitimate interests β preventing fraud, improving the site, and keeping records.
- Your consent β marketing emails and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation β keeping tax and transaction records.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum needed, and only with organisations that process it on our behalf:
- Shopify, which hosts this website and processes orders.
- Our payment provider, to take and refund payments.
- Our delivery carrier, which receives your name, address and telephone number so your parcel can be delivered.
- Our email platform, if you have joined our list.
- Analytics and advertising providers, as described above.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim. If our organisation is sold or merged, information may transfer to the buyer, who would be bound by this policy.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How your email address is used
If you order, we email you about that order only. If you join our list, we email you when new watches are added. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
How long we keep it
- Order and transaction records: 7 years, as tax law requires.
- Account information: until you ask us to close your account.
- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not contact you again by mistake.
- Analytics data: up to 26 months.
- Support emails: 3 years.
Transfers outside the UK
We are based in the United States and some of our providers operate there or elsewhere. Where information leaves the United Kingdom we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision, so that it keeps equivalent protection.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to order records is limited to people who need it. Payment card details never reach our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is perfect, so we cannot promise absolute protection, but we take reasonable steps and will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office if a breach puts your rights at risk.
Your rights
If you are in the United Kingdom you may ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to another provider. You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and withdraw consent to marketing at any time. Email support@bypatina.co and we will respond within one month at no charge.
If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This website is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the site.
